Marketing violent content to kids is a `successful strategy'
Article Abstract:
A study conducted by the FTC on the marketing practices of the entertainment industry has indicated that it is deliberately directing violent and explicit content towards children. The FTC investigated over 60 companies from the motion picture, music and video game industries. Among the findings of the study were that enforcement of minimum age requirements for R-rated features is lax, almost every video game company marketed games rated "mature," and that games rated mature were popular among boys below 17 years old.

'Tomb Raider' buries box office competition
Article Abstract:
Paramount's 'Lara Craft: Tomb Raider' movie grossed more than $48.2 million during the film's opening week, based on box offices estimates from ACNielsen EDI. Its main competitor Disney's 'Atlantis: The Lost Empire' managed to earn only less than half of Tomb Raider's, with $20.4 million. The success of Tomb Raider proves the increasing power of women on the big screen. It also means that Paramount would move plans for other Lara Croft movies.
